Biography

He has taken seminars and workshops in areas such as FLACSO-17 Institute of Critical Studies, University of Chile, and Visions of Art. He has also worked in the Solidarity Museum Salvador Allende and the Venice Peggy Guggenheim Collection in CCPLM.

He has been featured in exhibitions such as the XIX Biennial Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia 2014); A-part V Festival (France, 2014); International Festival of Belo Horizonte (Brazil, 2013); Third Biennial Juárez – El Paso (Mexico-US, 2013) and emerging photographer featured by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chile. He currently works as a curator at the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts with Index: Archiving the edges of Violence.

Biography

She is an aspiring architect student currently at Texas Tech University at El Paso. She is intrigued with the different forms that can be made in a space, giving the space a sense of identity. She works with materials such as chip board and glue, challenging herself in her designs. Design has given her motivation and has inspired her to start this new phase in her life.

Carla Zabalegui

Biography

Zabalegui is originally from Mexico City and she completed her degree on Bachelors in Fine Arts at the University of Texas at El Paso. Currently, she is completing her Master’s degree in Fine Arts at New Mexico State University where she also resides as an art teacher. After spending a year painting and having exhibitions in both El Paso and Juarez City she also volunteered at The El Paso Museum of Art in the curatorial area. She is interested in portraying gender equality and individuality through movement and division of multiple media including digital, painting, and ceramics. Zabalegui has shown her work in several places such as The Glass Gallery UTEP, The Union Gallery UTEP, The UpTown Lounge, The Loft Light Studio, Second Floor Studio, The Glass Box, El Paso del Norte, Chalk the Block, Pop Out Gallery, and Agave Rosa among others.

Biography

Lara lives in Cd. Juárez with her husband. Lara’s work explores themes of human behavior. In particular she focuses the relationship humans have with nature. The colors and form define emotions, as well as symbols are used to describe the concepts the artwork is meant to convey.

Briseida Ochoa

Biography

Ochoa’s works include photography, painting, mixed media, and printmaking. By using abstraction, she creates intense personal momentsby luring the viewer with images that convey themes of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and interpretation becomes multifaceted. Her work demonstrates how life extends beyond its own subjective limits and often tells a story about the effects of cultural interaction. It challenges the binaries we continually reconstruct between self and the other. Briseida is pursuing a double major in Printmaking and Painting at UTEP. She currently lives and works in El Paso.

Biography

Wancho is a lifelong El Paso resident who works as an architectural photographer throughout the country. He also enjoys capturing the beauty in the region’s geography and architecture and maintains a library of El Paso’s photography.

Biografia

Francisco Delgado was born in Cuidad Juárez and grew up in El Paso’s Segundo Barrio. Delgado’s “Bordeño” artworks are informed by the social and cultural struggles inherent in life on the Mexican and United States Border. Delgado explores conflicts in which the artwork questions problems of racism, identity struggles, Mexican and United States traditions, and U.S. Government’s policies effect on immigrants. He often uses dark humor and satire to depict his narratives.

Gabriel Diaz was born in Cd . Juarez , Chihuahua. His work has been exhibited at the University of Texas at El Paso Museum of Anthropology , the Chamizal National Museum of Fine Arts Institute in Cd. Juarez , Via Gallery Building Fonart in Cd . Juarez , Municipal Center of the Arts , the City Cultural Center , Gallery 910 in Oaxaca, and the Oaxaca Museum of San Bartolo.
He has held workshop a for Chinuni Arts Oaxaca. And he was awarded “Best Sculpture” in the Juried Student Exhibition 2000, University of Texas at El Paso.

Opening of Juarez Contemporary.

Opening on December 5th at 6 pm, Amor por Juarez is pleased to invite you to the opening of Juarez Contemporary with the work of Jellyfish Collective and Dios Perro.

This new contemporary art gallery project seeks to promote the screening, inclusion and involvement of emerging, young and established artists in the national and international art and cultural scene, the development and promotion of local art, the professionalization of artists, curators, theorists and critics of art and other cultural agents of the border and forming an audience interested in contemporary creations and be a key point in the artistic and cultural events in the town.

Jellyfish Collective focuses on contemporary art practices combined with the dynamism of urban art always looking for a positive impact on their projects. Their work moves in various disciplines and media from mural painting to digital animation. They were recently selected as the Best Animated Film at the Festival de Cine de Morelia for their short film ‘9:30 a.m.’

Dios Perro is a multidisciplinary group created in mid-2013 in Ciudad Juarez. Composed of brothers Roman Silva (Juarez, 1991) and Horey Silva (Valle de Allende, 1986), its focus revolves primarily around contemporary graphics, hybridization of classic and new technologies through various media such as etching, screen printing and mural painting.

Juarez Contemporary is located on Calle 20 de Noviembre 4305, in Ciudad Juarez.
